Manchester United loan Wilson to Aberdeen

Manchester United striker James Wilson has joined Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old has moved to Pittodrie as a replacement for Adam Rooney, who joined Salford City, the English non-league club owned by United greats Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.

It is the fourth loan deal for Wilson since his explosive senior debut in 2014, when he scored twice for United against Hull City at Old Trafford.

The England youth international spent 2015-16 with Brighton and Hove Albion before joining Derby County, although a serious knee injury saw that loan cut short.

He made eight appearances for Sheffield United last season, scoring once, after moving in January.

Wilson could make his debut i…

I had to be at ´best level´ – Sterling explains Liverpool exit

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling revealed he always intended to consider his options at Liverpool if the club struggled to win trophies.

Sterling, 21, made a £44million move to City in mid-2015, leaving Anfield – where he moved to in 2010.

The England international remembers a conversation with his agent as a teenager, saying he would move on if his spell at Liverpool was unsuccessful from a team perspective.

I remember saying to my agent; by the time I m 22, if I haven t won anything at that time and if I m not playing in the biggest competitions then I really need to assess my options, Sterling told The Premier League Show.

You want to make sure you are playing at the highest level and the best level.

I ve always loved Liverpool and th…

Consistency the only thing stopping me from being the best, claims Depay

Memphis Depay is adamant the only thing stopping him from being the best in the world is consistency and accepts he will not be able to achieve his goal at Lyon.

Depay s natural talent has rarely been doubted ever since his breakthrough season with PSV in 2013-14 and subsequent Netherlands showings at the World Cup.

But he failed to live up to expectations when he moved to Manchester United in 2015, only showing flashes of his ability during a year and a half at Old Trafford.

He ultimately moved to Ligue 1 and Lyon in January 2017 and is enjoying a fine season, having scored 10 times – including the late winner over Marseille on Sunday – and set up another six in 28 games, but he still struggles to impress on a weekly basis.

And that, he says, is …

What, if anything, does Juve’s recent loss mean for title race?

Has Juve s loss to Fiorentina breathed new life into the Serie A title race? (Photo: The Guardian)

It s been a very interesting week for Juventus, to say the least. On January 8th, the Bianconeri cruised to a relatively comfortable 3-0 win over Bologna. That marked their 26th home win, which set a new Serie A record. However, a few days later, Massimiliano Allegri s side took on Atalanta in Coppa Italia action. Despite winning that game, they conceded two goals. That also set another unwanted precedent. For the first time since February 2016, Juventus managed to ship two at Juventus Stadium; the last team to score two against the Bianconeri on their home turf was Bayern Munich during a 2-2 draw in the Champions League round of 16.

Was the writing on the wall? Perhaps. L…

Fiorentina president plans to keep Vlahovic amid Tottenham and Man City rumours

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has underlined his desire to keep hold of Dusan Vlahovic amid reported interest from Tottenham and Manchester City.

The Serbia international has long been linked with a move to Spurs, who could be forced into the market for a striker by the possible loss of Harry Kane to City in this transfer window.

However, it was reported on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola s men could well look to cut out the middle man and simply target the prolific Vlahovic themselves.

That does not look to be a particularly straightforward move either, with Fiorentina determined to keep hold of their star man.

I said from the first day that I wanted to keep Vlahovic, just like I did with Federico Chiesa, Commisso said of the forward, whose contract …

Messi joining PSG makes no difference to Ronaldo´s future, says Bonucci

Lionel Messi s imminent switch to Paris Saint-Germain has not had an impact on Cristiano Ronaldo s future with Juventus, according to team-mate Leonardo Bonucci.

Six-time Ballon d Or winner Messi is expected to complete a move to PSG this week after bringing an end to his 21-year association with Barcelona.

French giants PSG have previously been linked with fellow superstar forward Ronaldo, who is now into the final 12 months of his contract with Juve.

With any path to the Parc des Princes now effectively being cut off by Messi s arrival, Ronaldo looks set to stay in Turin for at least the next year.

However, Bonucci insists the shock transfer involving Messi has had no bearing on where Ronaldo will play his football this coming season.

Bitesize Prediction: Sunderland vs Swansea – 14/01/23

Market: Sunderland draw no bet

Odds: 20/21 @

Knowing that they could potentially break into the play-off places on Saturday afternoon, Sunderland will welcome Swansea to the Stadium of Light.

Starting with the hosts, while Sunderland might have only made their Championship return this season, the Black Cats have continued to gain a string of plaudits from across England s second-tier. Last seen extending on their FA Cup run thanks to a 2-1 victory away at Shrewsbury, Tony Mowbray s men appear to be riding quite the wave of momentum on either side of the World Cup break. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous eight domestic showdowns across all formats, the former Blackburn boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Opening this week…

Bakayoko wants to leave Chelsea

According to a recent report from Calciomercarto, Tiemoue Bakayoko wants to leave Chelsea and make his return to AC Milan on a permanent deal. He was first signed by the Blues way back in 2017, but after a poor first season at Stamford Bridge, he was sent on loan to AC Milan. He went back out on loan, this time to Monaco, the following season, but they failed to get him in on a permanent basis despite clearly wanting to do so.

Bakayoko knows that his time with the Blues is slowly but surely coming to an end, and now, it s just a case of edging that move over the finish line. There s still some uncertainty as to when and if Milan will be able to get the deal done courtesy of the summer transfer window being up in the air, but one thing is for sure he s on his way out of London.<…
