Bonucci eyeing repeat of Euro 2016 win over Spain

Leonardo Bonucci hopes Italy can use their Euro 2016 win over Spain as motivation for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against the same opponent.

Vicente del Bosque took his European champions to France hoping to claim a third consecutive title, but they were dumped out in the last 16 by Antonio Conte s Italy.

Both sides have appointed new coaches since then, but Bonucci admits he still gets a thrill from just thinking about their incredible 2-0 victory.

When I think about Paris, I get excited, he said at a news conference.

Those memories really pump me up because we put one of the strongest national teams in the world to the sword, although in that very moment they weren t at their best physically.

I really hope to transmit this feeling to t…

Euro 2008 day eleven – Holland 2-0 Romania, Italy 2-0 France.

Prior to the games on day eleven of Euro 2008 in the ‘group of death’ I thought I would look up the possible outcomes so that I would know who would qualify whatever happened in the two exciting games I was about to watch. The situation was interesting to say the least and I thought I should share it with you:

Holland have won Group C and will play the Group D runners-up in the quarter-finals.

Romania will qualify for the quarter-finals if they beat Holland, eliminating both France and Italy.

If Romania fail to beat Holland, the winner of France v Italy will go through.

If France and Italy draw, a point against Holland would be enough to send Romania through. France must win to have any chance of qualifying.

If F…

Humble Oyarzabal revels in ´job done´ after powering Spain to Euro 2024 glory

Mikel Oyarzabal proved Spain s hero in the Euro 2024 final, sealing a job well done for the La Roja substitute against England.

Real Sociedad s Oyarzabal scored with four minutes remaining after coming on as a second-half substitute, helping Luis de la Fuente s team to their fourth European Championship crown.

That is more than any other nation has managed in the competition s 64-year history as Spain were indebted to Oyarzabal s deft finish from Marc Cucurella s left-wing delivery.

The 27-year-old refused to take the acclaim for his heroics against Gareth Southgate s side, however.

I have done my job. I did what I had to do at every moment to try to help, Spain s match-winner told reporters after Sunday s 2-1 win.

I was lucky enough to give the…

Lloris vows no repeat of Euro 2016 final complacency

Hugo Lloris says there will be no repeat of any complacency shown by France at Euro 2016 when they face Croatia in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Paul Pogba suggested Les Bleus almost took beating Portugal in the final on home soil for granted after seeing off world champions Germany in the last four, only for Eder to snatch a surprise 1-0 win for Fernando Santos side.

But Lloris has vowed there will be no such arrogance in the showdown with Zlatko Dalic s Croatia in Moscow, even though he does not think all the players truly expected to beat Portugal.

No, I don t think it ll happen again, he told a news conference at Luzhniki Stadium.  The Euros was new for many players. In the Velodrome against the world champions, we had this communion with the public but …

On this day in 2010: Roy Hodgson appointed Liverpool manager

Roy Hodgson was confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool on a three-year contract on this day in 2010.

The then 62-year-old signed a deal to replace Rafael Benitez, who left the club by mutual consent after six years at Anfield.

Hodgson guided Fulham to the Europa League final before trading west London for Merseyside, but his stay with Liverpool was short-lived.

He only managed seven wins from 20 Premier League matches before leaving the club by mutual consent in January 2011.

After his exit, Hodgson admitted that the job was one of the most testing in his entire career.

He said: “I have found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career.

“I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given …

Week 11 NFL Parlay Picks: Buffalo Bucks and Browns Bounce Back

We’re more than halfway through the 17-game season, and at this point, wins and seeding become even more pivotal. Looking at Week 11 as a whole, there are a lot of evenly-matched contests – seven games have spreads of less than a field goal, which could really set apart the “good” teams from the “great.”

Here’s a look at my favorite spreads and total bets I’ll be targeting for Week 11’s NFL parlay picks.

NFL Power Rankings: Eagles Putting a Hurt(s) on the Competition

After two weeks of results, it’s a real crap shoot outside of the Top 10 of the NFL power rankings, with some teams forgetting to get off the bus in Week 2 or just failing to protect multi-score leads. Quarterback issues are shaking up the standings while the Colts and Broncos continue to frustrate bettors. It would also be great if someone could protect Joe Burrow, starting in Week 3.

In games on a neutral field, every higher-ranked team would be favored or, at least, a pick ’em on the in this format. For two teams ranked closely together, the difference in the spread would be a home-field advantage (if any), which varies slightly from team to team.

Raiders vs Bills Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 2: Let James Cook

It’s a short week for the Buffalo Bills but the NFL odds have tabbed them as -9.5 point home favorite vs. a cross-country traveling team in the Las Vegas Raiders. Are these Do these Week 2 NFL odds mean a victory is more than guaranteed at Highmark Stadium, especially with some injury concerns on the Las Vegas offense?

With the game script in his favor and Josh Allen coming off a poor decision-making game vs. the Jets, James Cook could be leaned on heavily between the 20s and bettors are starting to pile on his rushing total, but has the number passed the buy point?

Here are my free NFL Week 2 picks for Raiders vs. Bills.

Best NFL Sack and Tackle Props for Week 12: Hunter On the Prowl Against the Bears

We’ve already had four Week 12 odds opportunities but there are still 12 games remaining on the NFL betting board heading into Sunday. That includes a marquee matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles where I’m eyeing a pair of defensive player props.

I’m also diving into the NFL odds for Monday Night Football where I’m backing one of the league’s best pass rushers in a juicy matchup against a division foe. Here are my favorite sack and tackle NFL picks for Week 12.
